Sasa Britvic

Sasa Britvic was born in 1965 in Zagreb. After he had completed the studies of conducting at the Zagreb Academy of Music, in the class of Igor Gjadrov, he became the artistic director of the Academic Choir "Ivan Goran Kovacic".

He continued his education in the class of maestro Pierre Dervaux in France, and in the 1989/90 season he worked with the Moscow State Philharmony on a scholarship by the Zagreb Concert Management.

This young conductor has proved a talented interpreter of vocal and instrumental pieces of classical and modern music, in his conducting of the following orchestras: Zagreb Philharmony, Croatian Chamber Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmony, Orchestra Sinfonica dell'Emilia Romagna, European Youth Orchestra, Yehudi Menuhin Orchestra, Alps-Adriatic Orchestra, Podebrady Symphonic Orchestra and others.

He also cooperated with numerous world-known conductors, such as Lorin Maazel, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Dmitrij Kitaenko, Gustav Kuhn, G. Rafa, Ph. Hereweghe, Milan Horvat and others. He frequently conducts orchestras in France (Paris, Reims, Montpellier), Great Britain (London, Birmingham, Stratford-Upon-Avon), Austria (Salzburg, Graz), Italy (Venice, Udine), Slovenia and Croatia. As a pianist and rehearser he cooperates with Croatian Radio and Television, and works with numerous vocal soloists (Dunja Vejzovic, Lj. Molnar-Talajic, I. Boljkovac, I. Hraste, N. Belamaric and others).

He was awarded by the Rectorate of Zagreb University, as the best student of the Academy of Music in 1987, and received the award of the Croatian Music Institute. He also won the first prize of the International Academy of Conducting and Orchestra in Saumur, France, thus becoming a laureate of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation.

Sasa Britvic is also a holder of the Lovro and Lilly Matacic scholarship.
