poć ću junak srid gore zelene.	I will go like a hero into the green mountains.
Pivat ću joj jutron i večeron	I will sing to her morning and evening,
ne bi li se mlada smilovala,	hoping the young girl will take pity on me,

Ako mi se smilovati neće	If she will not take pity on me,
ocrnit ću sve haljine svoje,	I will blacken all my clothes,
samo neću pasa ni marame.	but I will spare my belt and my scarf.
Pasa neću rad majčina glasa,	The belt, for my mother’s honour,
a marame rad moje divojke.	and the scarf, for my beloved girl.
